      SPIRITUALITY
Soul and Symbol

7.30 - 9.30 pm
Wednesdays 12, 19 September

"Without symbols we are deaf, dumb and blind to those realities which defy hearing, speaking, and seeing in a conventional sense." (W. Rollins) These two sessions provide an opportunity to discover and affirm key symbols in our own life and the life of our nation. Rev Dr Robert Hoskin will facilitate these evenings referring to stories, art, dreams, and our cultural heritage.

Soundscapes

7.30 - 9.30 pm
Wednesdays 2, 9, 16 October

An opportunity for an experience of the sacred through the pure sounds of the harp and meditation in a safe and gentle space. Three evenings which include the soulful music of harp and voice, visualization, art expression and relaxation. Mary Doumany, one of Australia's most distinguished harpists, has performed in symphony orchestras and for recent Film Scores. She will be assisted by Rev Dr Robert Hoskin.

Vocalist Christine Sullivan and harpist vocalist Mary Doumany are among Australia's finest musicians. Experience their unique blend of talents when they perform as an acoustic duo of two voices accompanied by the harp. Their Repertoire includes folk, spirituals, jazz and originals. Past audiences have requested encore after encore!

      JUSTICE ISSUES
Just Art: Refugees?

Wednesdays 13, 20, 27 November

Three sessions which challenge our perception of Asylum Seekers and enable participants to creatively express their response to:

Week 1
Stancea Vichi from Asylum Seekers. Project auspiced by the Uniting Church Hotham Mission will speak the stories of people who are currently seeking asylum in Australia
Week 2:

Visit to Elm St. North Melbourne where Asylum seekers can go for assistance.
Week 3: Communicate the experience of the changes in your perception from media coverage to real life stories in the medium of your choice.

Catherine van Wilgenburg, who will facilitate this event, is a practising visual artist and lecturer and Director of Living Colour Studio in Yarraville - a practice in Architecture Art Commissions and Building Colour Consultancy. She has extensive experience as an artist in many communities throughout Australia.
