The Clifton Creative Arts Centre is a
joint project of
- Richmond Uniting Church and
- Belgium Avenue Neighbourhood House Inc
It is a multicultural centre for community arts development and presentation.
The centre offers gallery and hall space for community use in an historic
part of Richmond Hill. It has access to a delightful patio and adjoining
park.
The Centre seeks to:
- Provide high quality and accessible arts and cultural venue
- increases access to the arts for diverse communities
- support and develop locally produced arts and artists in particular
those who may be disadvantaged with limited access to mainstream venues
of aid.
- Explore the close relationship between art and spirituality in its
uniquely Australian context.
Promote the sharing/exchange of resources thus linking to larger local
celebrations such as
- Lunar festival and Moon lantern Festival.
- Develop an artist in residence program with increased opportunities
for wider community participation.
History
The Clifton Creative Arts Centre is currently being developed. However
it arises from many years of cooperation and work by Richmond Uniting
Church and Belgium Avenue Neighbourhood House. A steering committee with
representatives form these two bodies and the wider community is responsible
for the development of the centre. In due course, it will be incorporated.
