The Collingwood Men’s program is an initiative of the Collingwood Neighbourhood House that started in 2003 out of an awareness that the men on the Collingwood Housing Estate were lacking support and representation in the community in general. Collingwood Neighbourhood House recognised that like women and children on the estate, men needed a program to respond to a variety of men’s issues including access to community services and support. The Men’s Program is open to men of all ages, nationalities and faiths.
The Men’s Program has created a safe environment for men on the estate to meet each other, have a meal, build friendships and talk about the issues that are facing them. The program has responded to facing men on the estate such as social isolation, health and wellbeing.
The Men’s Program is funded by City of Yarra’s
Home and Community Care (HACC) program.
